CASTLETON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (WNYT)- Goold Hill Vineyard and Cidery is preparing for a soft opening with new food, drinks and fall activities planned for the season.

A beloved and historic apple orchard reopens this weekend. And the new owners have big plans for the property.

SCHODACK, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A 116-year-old farm in the town of Schodack has softly reopened its doors. Goold Hill Estate, located on Brookview Station Road and previously known as Windy Hill Orchard, is now under new ownership.

Windy Hill lands in our top 10 for the 2nd year in a row and has quickly become a local favorite since taking over the old Gould's Orchard a few years ago.

Windy Hill Estate in Schodack has been sold to new owners, Neviana Zhgaba and Ardian Llomi. Those owners have plans for expansion. It’s one of the oldest family-owned farms in the Capital Region, founded by the Goold family in 1910.

The orchard, which closed this season while the managerial transition was underway, welcomes Neviana Zhgaba and Ardian Llomi, agricultural entrepreneurs and owners of the award-winning Aquila’s Nest Vineyards in Connecticut. This next chapter of Windy Hill’s story builds on the work of Scott Seeberger and his family, whose years of care made the orchard one of the most popular farms in the area, and the first transition of ownership when the orchard became Windy Hill after many years as Goold’s Orchard.

A beloved and historic local orchard is under new ownership with plans to reopen the farm next year.

Known as one of the oldest family-owned farms in the Capital Region, the apple orchard was founded by the Goold family in 1910 and, accordingly, called the Goold Orchards. The property was then bought by Scott Seeberger and his family in 2019.

Across the Hudson River, the former Goold Orchards in Schodack, known as Windy Hill Orchard-East since a 2019 sale but closed for a year, has been sold to the owners of Aquila's Nest Vineyards in Connecticut. They intend to relaunch it next year with events and cider made from this fall's crop as a precursor to developing a winery on the site. The Business Review reported the sale price was $1.8 million.
